Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program

Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program

Please see the attached letter that will be sent to parents in the coming days.

The letter indicates that the Secondary Center is on the list of the bottom 15% for performance on the combined Math and Reading test on the 22-23 PSSA and Keystone Exams. Due to performance on the PSSA and Keystone Exams, the Secondary Center students will be offered a choice to utilize the OSTCP.

As we have other ATSI and TSI designations, we will continue to work through our professional development plan and Comprehensive Plan to provide support and improvements for our students.

We have already taken many steps to try to improve. Including, implementation of Co-Teaching (and expansion), revised Alg 1 course offerings and curriculum, revised 7th/8th Grade ELA courses and curriculum, as well as the implementation on Math180.

Furthermore, starting this past Monday, we took the initial steps to begin a phased review and revision of all of our Secondary Center curriculums to ensure that we are aligned to the standards and addressing the eligible content that is assessed on the PSSA and Keystone Exams.

As admin reviews this newest designation, we will continue to adapt our professional development planning (in collaboration with the Professional Development/Induction Committee Members).

There are approximately 7 weeks of instruction (minus the Spring Break) until the PSSA Exams and 10 weeks until the Keystone Exams. Please continue to review your instruction to ensure that we are including the necessary topics to give our students the opportunity to be successful on the exams.
